Pls read the reflection below if you've a strong heart and thick skin.
The 1st NE show ended at 8.30pm on 11 July, Sat. It's certainly a memorable performance for audience; an unforgettable rehearsal for all participants, teachers, backstage crews, SAF staffs and many others.
It's the 1st time we'd a heavy downpour at the last 15 minutes of the show.
When all of you were on the stage, I couldn't help but wonder what's happening on the stage... will you catch a cold? Or will anyone of you slip and fall down? Or perhaps you may be dancing in the rain? Or may be shievering? Many questions appear on my mind.
When I saw all of us ran down from the stage, the answer was clear. You've enjoyed the downpour but of course worried for our mobile phones / cameras more than yourselve.
Everyone started to throw his/her phones into a big plastic bag, I guess your props - the big hat should help by preventing the rain falling into the big plastic bag.
We seek shelter under the Platform and hoping to hop onto the bus immediately. Endless waiting that drove some of us impatient. Some of you were so excited over the downpour and started to be "Merlion"; some took photos of our "wet look" some stood under the rain and imaged yourselve under the waterfall. It may be fun to you to be a "merlion". But is DEFINITELY not a funny sight to be seen by other secondary school students and teachers! You've no idea how shocked I was! It's already chaotic at that moment and there's still a "merlion"!?!?!?!?!?! My blood pressure really shot up!
Some of you went toilet without informing me or Mr.Goh and eventually got scolding from me. I'm not sure if you know my intention. As a teacher, when the area was dark and cold, it's important and necessary for everyone to stay togeter as a cluster. However, at that point of time, some of you were scattered and seemed like can't hear the instruction! Some of you were so engrossed in whatever you're doing. What if we have moved to the exit and you can't see us moving? You will be left stranded at that area! No bus will pick you up! NO BUS! And we teachers/ students have to search for you high and low! Do you get it?
While everyone's busy with himself or herself, suddenly one of our students started to feel cold. At once, 8 students took off their scarfs and wrapped around him to keep him warm. Everyone croweded around him to keep him warm. But somehow, they've forgotten that their scarfs were wet! Immediately, they took off all the wet scars and his costume. Around 8 students were standing around him to keep him warm. (Hope that none of us fart at that time). It's certainly a heartwarming sight to see everyone is trying his/ her best to keep him warm although they may be cold too...
Finally,we're back to the F1 pit ... Thanks to Miss Elsa who arranged all your bags neatly on the chairs. And we arranged all your phones and wallets on the table. Once you see your phones, it seems like you've lost your senses and wanted to grab your stuff immediately. HEY! Mr.Goh and Miss Elsa asked you to WAIT! DEAR ALL, we really need you to L.I.S.T.E.N and F.O.L.L.O.W instructions! I'm not sure if they're angry with your behaviours. But a YES from me. You've gotta learn to be patient!
Sometimes, I wonder if you understand this sentence -"line up in 2 rows"... It's a common sight to have 1 lump / 1 cluster/ 3 rows. Certain part of the 2 rows will be untidy after awhile. For the future NE shows/Preview/actual day, I would expect you to LINE UP IN 2 ROWS NEATLY AT ALL TIMES. I believe all of you can do it. Show me!
Next, Old Chang Kee fishballs and curry puffs taste great. Bear in mind that you have to eat your dinner ~ 4.30pm. It costs money to prepare food for you. It's a waste if you didn't eat the dinner prepared by you. So, from next rehearsal onwards, try to finish up all your dinner.
Ah, one more thing! F1 pit is F1 pit but not "Block 401 playground". Pls walk, not run and play catching.
Some of you feel that I'm being harsh to you and don't know why get scolded. Think!
Certainly, I don't want to scold you. Do you know that it takes energy to scold??? It upsets me too. My intention to scold you, is to point out the incorrect behaviours/ act and would want you to do the right one. Ask yourself - would you rather to be scolded by others right in front of the rest of the participants or by me?
How did you feel when you're being scolded in front of so many particpants on last Sat? Why did others get praised? Why are we considered the not-so-good one?
Honestly, I do feel very upset/ lousy when you're scolded on the stage in front of so many participants.
SO, REFLECT!!! (just like the 2 boys in the photos)...
NE2 is on this Sat, 18 July. I will let you know the meeting time and other details.
Of course there're some positive things I want to praise all of you. Gimme some time to type ...
